Local moving in Surrey

Your Surrey move, handled start to finish

We’re Local Movers Ltd, based right here at 164 St in east Surrey. For 6+ years we’ve packed, lifted and hauled homes across every Surrey pocket, the townhouse rows in Clayton Heights, the older houses off Fraser Highway in Fleetwood, the towers going up around Surrey City Centre. We’ve mapped which buildings have tight elevators and which Newton cul-de-sacs a 26-footer can’t back into.

Every move is run by our own crew. We don’t hand your stuff to a day-labour outfit and hope for the best. The same trained movers who show up at your door are the ones who load the truck, drive it, and set your couch down where you want it.

Pricing is simple. We bill on the actual hours worked, and we break the whole thing down for you up front before move day. No surprise line items when the truck pulls away. You’ll know how the clock works before you ever sign off.

What we move

What a local move with us looks like

Houses & full homes

From a Fleetwood bungalow to a big Fraser Heights home, we move whole houses across Surrey, basements, garages and the suite downstairs included. We size the crew to the square footage so the day stays on schedule.

Apartments & condos

A high-rise tower around Surrey City Centre or a low-rise walk-up in Newton, we book the elevator and loading bay, protect the long corridors, and keep it inside your strata move-in window.

Townhomes & suites

The Clayton Heights and Sullivan Station strata complexes, and the basement suites all over Surrey, narrow streets and tight stairs handled without a scratch.

Moving day tips

10 local moving tips from our Surrey crews

Hundreds of Surrey moves taught us what actually saves time on move day. Run this list the week before we pull up. A faster move on hourly billing is a cheaper move, simple as that.

1. Book the elevator 2 weeks out

Moving into a tower near Surrey City Centre or Whalley? Ask the building manager for a 3-hour elevator window as soon as you have your date. End-of-month Saturdays go first, and a crew waiting on an elevator is billed time you didn’t need to spend.

2. Lock in your strata move window

Most Surrey condo and townhome stratas want written notice before a move, and some hold a deposit. Give your council 1 to 2 weeks and get the loading bay rules in writing so nothing surprises you on the day.

3. Start packing 10 days early

A 2-bedroom home fills 40 to 60 boxes. At 5 boxes a night you’re done in 10 days, no brutal final weekend. Start with what you never touch, books, off-season clothes, the garage shelves.

4. Label the sides, not the tops

Boxes stack 3 high in the truck, so a label on top disappears. Write the room and a one-line summary on 2 sides of every box. Unloading goes way faster when the crew can read where things live.

5. Keep books in small boxes

A large box packed with books can pass 50 pounds, and the bottom lets go on the stairs. Use small 1.5 cubic foot boxes for books and dishes. Save the big ones for pillows, linens and lampshades.

6. Leave IKEA furniture to us

We’re a delivery partner for IKEA, Cozey and Samsung, so flat-pack furniture is routine for our crews. We take apart Pax wardrobes and Malm bed frames, bag the hardware, and rebuild them the same day at your new place.

7. Pack a first-night box

Kettle, phone chargers, toilet paper, bed sheets, a change of clothes. After an 8-hour move day nobody wants to open 50 boxes hunting for a charger. Keep this one box in your own car, not the truck.

8. Save parking for the truck

Our 26-foot truck needs about 40 feet of curb. Park your own cars out front the night before, then move them when we arrive. A long carry from down the block adds real minutes to every single trip.

9. Dodge the month-end rush

End-of-month weekends book up fastest in Surrey. Grab those dates 2 to 3 weeks ahead, or pick a mid-month weekday and take first choice of start times. Morning starts beat afternoon starts too, the crew is fresher and the elevator is quieter.

10. Measure the big stuff first

Measure your couch, then the doorways and stairwells at the new place. A 90-inch sofa and a narrow basement suite staircase don’t always get along. We can pop a door off its hinges in 5 minutes, but flag the squeeze before move day.

Hourly pricing

What affects your local moving cost in Surrey

One pricing story, told straight. Your move is time-based. You’re billed on the actual hours the crew works, in 30-minute increments after the minimum charge. Before move day we break the whole estimate down for you, crew size, truck and the hours we expect the job to take. The math you see up front is the same math you see on the final bill.

The biggest lever is how ready you are. A packed 1-bedroom apartment is usually a 3 to 4 hour job for 2 movers. A 3-bedroom house where the kitchen is still in the cupboards can run double that. Sealed, labelled boxes load fast. Loose bags and open bins slow every trip to the truck.

Access moves the clock more than distance does. A tower move around Surrey City Centre with a booked elevator and a close loading bay runs smooth. The same furniture down 3 flights of a Newton walk-up takes longer, every trip is stairs. Tell us about stairs, long corridors and tight parking when you book and we build them into the estimate.

Crew size is the other lever. 2 movers cost less per hour, but on a bigger home a 3rd pair of hands usually pays for itself, the truck loads faster and the total hours drop. We size the crew to the square footage, the same way we plan our IKEA, Cozey and Samsung deliveries, so you’re not paying for anyone standing around.

We don’t print dollar figures we can’t stand behind. Call (778) 242-2877, tell us what you’re moving, and you’ll have the full hourly breakdown before you book a thing.

A Fleetwood move we ran

A townhome move by the Fleetwood SkyTrain work

Here’s a move that shows how we work. A three-bedroom townhome in a strata complex off Fraser Highway near 160 St, right in Fleetwood Town Centre. The catch was the Surrey-Langley SkyTrain construction. Fraser Highway is the spine through Fleetwood, and the beam-lift work has been pulling curb parking and dropping single-lane restrictions along the corridor. Our base is at 8567 164 St, five minutes east, so we’ve got the detours cold.

We spotted the parking squeeze on the walkthrough and planned around it. The crew brought the truck in off a side street on the 84 Ave side instead of fighting the highway lane closures, kept the strata elevator window locked in, and ran a shorter carry path through the complex. A packed three-bed townhome like this runs a 3-person crew about 6 to 7 hours, billed on the actual time, broken down for the owner before move day. No flat-rate guess.

That’s the difference on a Fleetwood job. The bigger competitor pages list the area and stop there. We plan the real detour, the strata window and the carry path before the truck rolls, so the SkyTrain work never costs you extra hours on the clock.

Local Moving FAQ

Questions we get about local moving

How much does a local move in Surrey cost?

We bill on the actual hours worked, and we break the whole thing down for you up front before move day. There’s no flat rate and no guessing, you’ll know exactly how the hourly pricing works before you book, so the final number lines up with what we told you.

Do you really use your own movers, or subcontractors?

Our own crews, every time. The trained movers who show up are Local Movers Ltd employees who load, drive and unload your home. We don’t pass your move off to a day-labour company.

Which Surrey areas do you cover?

All of them. Fleetwood, Newton, Cloverdale, Guildford, Surrey City Centre and Whalley, South Surrey, Fraser Heights, Clayton Heights, Panorama and Sullivan, and Ocean Park. We’re based at 164 St in east Surrey, so most of Surrey is a short drive for our trucks.

Can you move me from Surrey to Vancouver or Burnaby?

Yes. We do local moves across the Lower Mainland too, Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Langley and Richmond. Same crew, same hourly billing, whether you’re staying in Surrey or crossing the bridge.

Do you move on weekends?

We run 7 days a week. Weekends fill up fast in Surrey, especially around the end of the month, so it helps to lock in your date early.

Will you take apart and put back my furniture?

Yes. Furniture assembly and disassembly is part of the job. We break down bed frames, tables and big shelving units so they clear the doors, then put them back together at your new place.

Do you handle apartment and condo moves with tight elevators?

All the time. Surrey City Centre and Whalley have plenty of towers with booked elevators and tight loading bays. We plan the elevator window and the carry path ahead of time so move day stays on schedule.

How long does a local move in Surrey take?

A packed 1-bedroom apartment usually runs 3 to 4 hours with 2 movers. A full 3-bedroom house runs 6 to 8 hours with a crew of 3. Stairs, long carries and unfinished packing add time, so we ask about all three before we build your estimate.

Do I need to empty my dressers before you move them?

Light clothing can stay in the drawers. We wrap each dresser in shrink wrap and moving blankets so nothing slides out. Heavy or breakable things come out first. Books, papers and electronics ride in small boxes so the piece stays safe to carry on stairs.

Can you still move in Fleetwood during the SkyTrain construction on Fraser Highway?

Yes, and we plan for it. The Surrey-Langley SkyTrain work has pulled curb parking and dropped single-lane restrictions along Fraser Highway through Fleetwood, with overnight beam-lift stoppages between 168 and 184 St. We check the corridor before your date and bring the truck in off a side street like 84 Ave when the highway lanes are tight, so the construction never adds hours to your bill.

Where are you based, and does that help a Fleetwood move?

We’re at 8567 164 St, inside east Fleetwood. That’s about five minutes from Fleetwood Town Centre at Fraser Highway and 160 St, with no highway between us and most of the area. A short drive to your door means less truck time on the clock and a crew that already knows the Fleetwood streets and detours.
