Piano moving in Surrey

Surrey’s piano moving crew

Pianos are tricky for a reason. They’re heavy, the weight sits unevenly, and the finish and the action inside both bruise easily. One slip on a stair or a tight doorway can mean real damage to the piano and a real injury to the person carrying it. This isn’t a job for two friends and a hand truck.

We do it the safe way. The right crew size for the instrument, a piano dolly and skid board, and proper straps to keep the load controlled the whole way. We measure doorways, plan the path, and protect corners and floors before the piano moves an inch. Tight Whalley condo elevators and steep Fraser Heights stairs get planned out before we lift.

Uprights and grands are handled differently, and we treat them that way. Our pricing is time-based and billed on the actual hours worked, broken down for you up front before we start. No flat rate, just the real time it takes to move your piano with care.

What we handle

How we move each type of piano

Upright pianos

An upright is tall, top-heavy and deceptively heavy for its size. We keep it upright on a piano dolly, strap it down, and steer it slowly through doorways and around corners. The crew is sized so no one is ever fighting the weight. Surrey townhouses and condos with narrow halls get a planned path before we move.

Grand pianos

A grand needs more steps and more care. When the move calls for it, the legs and pedal lyre come off and the body goes onto a padded skid board on its side, wrapped and strapped. That makes the shape manageable through doors and down stairs. We reassemble it at the other end and set it where you want it.

Stairs, doorways and elevators

Most of the risk lives at the tight spots. We measure doorways and stairwells, book the elevator where one exists, and protect every edge on the route. Whalley tower elevators get timed so the piano isn’t stuck waiting, and steep Fraser Heights staircases get the crew size and pacing the load needs.

Piano Moving FAQ

Questions we get about piano moving

How much does it cost to move a piano in Surrey?

Our pricing is time-based and billed on the actual hours worked. We break the rate down for you up front, so you know how it’s calculated. The total depends on the piano type, the access at both homes, and the stairs or elevators on the route. We don’t quote a flat rate.

Do you move both upright and grand pianos?

Yes. We handle piano moving, grand piano moves and upright piano moves. Uprights stay upright on a dolly and strapped. Grands are partly disassembled and moved on a skid board when the path calls for it. We tell you which approach fits your piano and your home.

Can you move a piano up or down stairs?

Yes. Stairs are where most piano damage and injuries happen, so we plan for them. We size the crew to the load, use a dolly or skid board with straps, and protect the staircase. Steep Surrey stairs, like those in many Fraser Heights homes, get extra hands and a slower pace.

Do you move pianos in Whalley and Surrey City Centre condos?

Yes. We move pianos in and out of towers across Whalley and Surrey City Centre. We check the elevator size, book it ahead where the building allows, and protect the lobby and hallway path.

How many movers do you send for a piano?

It depends on the piano and the access. An upright in a ground-floor home needs fewer hands than a grand coming down a flight of stairs. We size the crew so no one is ever carrying more than they should, which keeps your piano and our team safe.

Do you protect the piano and my home during the move?

Yes. We pad and wrap the piano, and we protect floors, walls and doorway corners along the route before we lift. The dolly, skid board and straps keep the instrument controlled the whole way.

How far in advance should I book a piano move?

Reach out as early as you can, especially for condo moves where the building needs elevator time booked. We move 7 days a week, so we can often work around your schedule.
