The first lane opened December 24, 2025, running northbound from King George Boulevard in Surrey to E Columbia Street in New West. More lanes and the Royal Avenue and Columbia Street ramps keep opening in phases through 2026, so expect short closures near the bridgehead. We watch the phasing and route around it, so your move doesn’t sit in it.
Tower moves run on the building’s clock. Downtown New West buildings want advance notice for elevator reservations and set specific moving hours. Underground parkades have height and width limits that stop a lot of trucks cold. And strata rules require floor and wall protection through the common areas. We book the elevator window, check the parkade clearance before move day, and bring the floor runners and wall padding ourselves.
Heritage homes and hillside streets. Queen’s Park’s Victorian and Edwardian homes come with narrow doorways and steep interior staircases, and the mature trees plus on-street parking limit where a truck can sit. Yes. Most Downtown buildings need advance notice for elevator reservations and only allow moves in set hours. We plan the window with your building manager and schedule the crew around it, so the elevator’s ours when the truck arrives.
Sometimes, and we find out before move day, not during it. Downtown parkades carry height and width limits that block most moving trucks. When the truck won’t clear, we stage from street level and run the freight elevator. It’s a solved problem, not a surprise.
