Looking for Movers Near New Westminster?

New Westminster packs a lot of moving work into a small footprint. The whole city is just 15.62 square kilometres on the Burrard Peninsula, sitting on the north bank of the Fraser with Burnaby and Coquitlam right next door. Queensborough hangs off the eastern tip of Lulu Island across the water, and yes, we cover that side too.

Here’s what that size means for your move. About 78,916 people live here at roughly 5,052 per square kilometre, a density second only to Vancouver among Canadian cities. So most New West moves aren’t big driveways and double garages. They’re condo and apartment moves, with elevators, parkades and strata rules in the mix. That’s the work our Surrey moving crews do every week.

The housing stock runs two directions at once. Downtown stacks high-rise condos next to historic architecture around New Westminster Quay and the River Market. A few blocks up the hill, Queen’s Park keeps its grand heritage homes on wide, tree-lined streets. We move both, and we plan each one differently. New Westminster is one of the areas we serve across the Lower Mainland.

What New Westminster Moves Actually Deal With

The new bridge changed the trip. The Pattullo’s replacement is the stal’ew’asem (Riverview) Bridge, a four-lane, toll-free crossing with walking and cycling lanes separated by barriers, a $1.637 billion project. The first lane opened December 24, 2025, running northbound from King George Boulevard in Surrey to E Columbia Street in New West. More lanes and the Royal Avenue and Columbia Street ramps keep opening in phases through 2026, so expect short closures near the bridgehead. We watch the phasing and route around it, so your move doesn’t sit in it.

Tower moves run on the building’s clock. Downtown New West buildings want advance notice for elevator reservations and set specific moving hours. Underground parkades have height and width limits that stop a lot of trucks cold. And strata rules require floor and wall protection through the common areas. We book the elevator window, check the parkade clearance before move day, and bring the floor runners and wall padding ourselves.

Heritage homes and hillside streets. Queen’s Park’s Victorian and Edwardian homes come with narrow doorways and steep interior staircases, and the mature trees plus on-street parking limit where a truck can sit. Over in Victory Heights, the hillside streets with their Fraser River views mean truck access takes planning too. We scout the parking, pad the banisters, and carry the awkward pieces the slow, careful way.

What we move in New West

What We Offer in New Westminster

Condo and Apartment Tower Moves

Downtown’s high-rise stock around the Quay and River Market is most of our New West work. We handle the elevator booking, confirm the parkade height limit, and protect the lobby and hallways per your strata’s rules. See our condo and apartment moving service for the full rundown.

Heritage Home Moves

Queen’s Park carries a formal Heritage Conservation Area, and its grand homes deserve crews who move like it. Narrow doorways, steep stairs, tree-lined streets with tight parking. Our house moving crews plan those jobs door by door, not room by room.

Townhouse and Infill Moves

The city’s Townhouse Accelerator Initiative and infill housing programs keep a steady stream of new-build townhome move-ins coming. Queensborough adds its own mix of homes, townhouses and newer developments around Queensborough Landing. New-build closings often come with tight possession windows, so packing help the day before keeps move day short.

Why New West picks us

Why New Westminster Customers Choose Us

We’re Right Across the River

Our base is at 8567 164 St in Surrey. The new crossing drops our trucks onto E Columbia Street, and for Queensborough jobs we come in on the Queensborough Bridge side, the same link that ties Lulu Island to Richmond and Delta. Short drive, no travel padding.

Building Rules, Handled Before Move Day

Elevator windows, parkade clearances, strata floor protection, hillside access in Victory Heights. We ask the building questions before move day so nothing stalls at the loading dock.

Honest, Time-Based Pricing

You’re billed on the actual hours we work, in 30-minute increments after the minimum, with the breakdown laid out up front. No inflated estimates, no surprise line items.

The Track Record

We’ve moved for IKEA, Cozey and Samsung. We run our own crews, no subcontractors, and we’ve held a 5.0 rating across 395 Google reviews over 6 years. If those brands trust us with their product, your sofa’s in good hands. Awkward flat-packs and tight Victorian doorways are why customers add our furniture disassembly and assembly service.

What a New West move costs

What Moving in New Westminster Costs

One pricing story, told straight. Your move is billed on the actual hours we work, in 30-minute increments after the minimum, and we break the numbers down before you book. A two-bed Downtown condo with a booked elevator moves on a different clock than a Queen’s Park heritage house with steep stairs and street parking. The hours change. The honesty doesn’t. You’ll never hear “flat-rate” from us, because flat rates get padded to cover someone’s bad guess.

New West move questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you handle elevator bookings for Downtown New Westminster condo towers?

Yes. Most Downtown buildings need advance notice for elevator reservations and only allow moves in set hours. We plan the window with your building manager and schedule the crew around it, so the elevator’s ours when the truck arrives.

Can your trucks get into underground parkades in New West?

Sometimes, and we find out before move day, not during it. Downtown parkades carry height and width limits that block most moving trucks. When the truck won’t clear, we stage from street level and run the freight elevator. It’s a solved problem, not a surprise.

Do you move heritage homes in Queen’s Park?

All the time. Queen’s Park sits in a formal Heritage Conservation Area, and its Victorian and Edwardian homes have narrow doorways, steep interior staircases, and mature trees plus street parking that limit truck access. We scout parking ahead, pad the tight corners, and slow down where the house demands it.

Is the new bridge open? How do you get to New Westminster from Surrey?

It’s opening in phases. The first lane of the stal’ew’asem (Riverview) Bridge opened December 24, 2025, running northbound from King George Boulevard to E Columbia Street, with more lanes and the Royal Avenue and Columbia Street ramps phasing in through 2026. We track the closures near the bridgehead and route around them, so the crossing stays a short hop either way.

Do you cover Queensborough even though it’s across the river?

Yes. Queensborough sits on the eastern tip of Lulu Island, with a mix of homes, townhouses and newer developments around Queensborough Landing. We come in on the Queensborough Bridge side, the same crossing that links to Richmond and Delta.

How does your pricing work for a New Westminster move?

Time-based, start to finish. You’re billed on the actual hours worked, in 30-minute increments after the minimum, and we hand you the breakdown before you book. With New West’s density running second only to Vancouver, most jobs here are condo moves, and the elevator window usually sets the pace more than the distance does.

What do strata rules mean for my move?

Most New West stratas require floor and wall protection in the common areas before anything moves through. We bring the runners and padding and set them up ourselves. You don’t chase down the requirements. We already know them.

Do you move in hillside areas like Victory Heights?

Yes. Victory Heights is a hillside neighbourhood with sweeping Fraser River views, and those sloped streets make truck placement matter. We plan where the truck sits and how far the carry runs before the crew ever shows up.
