Most of our long hauls don’t start on the highway. They start in a driveway a short run from our Fleetwood base. Langley is the next city over, straight down Fraser Highway, 15 to 20 minutes with no bridge or water crossing since we’re both south of the Fraser. So a Langley home leaving the province is a job we can stage tight before the truck ever points east.
Take a modern townhouse in Willoughby’s Latimer pocket, the kind with a legal basement suite the owners cleared out first. Loading a townhouse like that runs a 3-person crew about 4 to 5 hours, billed on the actual time. Then it’s the long part. We roll out to the 200 Street interchange at Carvolth, pick up Highway 1, and run east toward Alberta, or swing up the Coquihalla if the Interior is the target. The load that left Langley arrives with the same crew.
Latimer Heights changed the plan for some of these. Its towers are 34 and 26 storeys, Langley’s first highrises up by 86 Avenue and 200 Street, so a unit up there means booking a service-elevator window on the load end just like a Surrey City Centre tower job.
