Senior moving in Surrey

A calmer move for seniors and their families

Moving later in life is a big step. Maybe you’re leaving the family home in Fraser Heights or Panorama after many years. Maybe an adult child is helping a parent find an easier place to live. We get how much that means, and we treat every move with respect.

We don’t rush you. We work at your speed, take breaks when you need them, and answer questions along the way. If there are stairs, we take our time. If a box of photos or keepsakes needs extra care, we handle it gently.

Lots of our senior moves are downsizing jobs, going from a large house to a condo or a retirement residence in South Surrey or White Rock. We can help you plan the move, pack what’s coming, and set things up so the new place feels like home faster.

We can also take on the parts that wear people out. Packing the kitchen, wrapping the china, taking apart and rebuilding the bed and the dressers, and clearing out what’s not coming. If you’d rather store some furniture while you settle in, we can do that too. Pricing is time-based, billed on the actual hours worked and broken down up front, so there’s never a surprise at the end.

What we handle

How we help with a senior move

Downsizing help

Going from a big Fraser Heights or Panorama home to a smaller place means deciding what stays and what goes. We give you the time and space to sort through it. We’ll carefully move what you’re keeping, and we won’t pressure you to hurry. Take the day you need.

Moving into a retirement residence

Many South Surrey and White Rock retirement communities have move-in rules, set times, elevator bookings and loading areas. We coordinate with the residence so move day goes smoothly. We’ll fit your furniture into the new suite and place it where you want it.

Handling what matters

After years in one home, some things carry real memories. Photo albums, china, a favourite chair, small keepsakes. We treat those items with extra care, wrap them well, and keep them safe. If something needs a slow, steady hand, that’s exactly what we give it.

Plan the day

Senior moving checklist: 10 tips from our Surrey crews

We’ve helped hundreds of Surrey families move a parent or a grandparent. These 10 tips are the same advice our crews give on the phone every week. They keep move day calm, and since our pricing is time-based, most of them trim real hours off the bill too.

  • 1. Start sorting 3 weeks out. Downsizing a full family home is a big job. One room at a time, an hour or two a day, beats one frantic weekend. Start with the closets and the storage room, they hold the most decisions.
  • 2. Sort into 4 piles: keep, family, donate, toss. Write the pile name on painter’s tape and stick it on each piece. If a dresser is going to a grandkid, tell us when you book so we can plan it into the day.
  • 3. Book the residence elevator 2 weeks ahead. Retirement residences in South Surrey and White Rock run set move-in times, elevator bookings and loading areas. Ask for a morning slot, then let us coordinate with the residence so the truck and the elevator are ready at the same time.
  • 4. Measure the new suite before you decide what’s coming. A sectional that fit a big Fraser Heights living room won’t always fit a one-bedroom suite. Measure the rooms and the doorways, and we’ll take apart anything that won’t clear the frame.
  • 5. Pack a first-night bag. Medications, glasses, hearing aid batteries, phone charger, kettle and one change of clothes. Keep it with you in the car, not on the truck, so nothing you need at 9 pm is buried in box 40.
  • 6. Hand-carry the paperwork and jewellery. Wills, bank records, ID and house documents go in one small box that rides with you or a family member. Our crew will check with you before the truck door closes.
  • 7. Use small boxes for books and china. Books get heavy fast. Small boxes keep each load under about 40 pounds, which is safer on stairs and easier on everyone. China gets wrapped piece by piece, never stacked loose.
  • 8. Leave the beds and dressers to us. We take furniture apart and rebuild it at the new place as part of the move. As one of the largest delivery partners for IKEA, Cozey and Samsung, our crews build furniture every day, so nothing gets lost or wobbly.
  • 9. Point out the keepsakes before we load. Photo albums, china, a favourite chair. Show the crew what matters most and those pieces get an extra blanket or two, extra time and a spot on the truck where nothing leans on them.
  • 10. Set up the bedroom first. Ask us to rebuild the bed as the first job at the new suite. The bedroom is ready before the truck is half empty, so there’s a quiet place to rest while we place the rest.
Honest pricing

What affects your senior moving cost in Surrey

Senior moving cost in Surrey works one way with us. Pricing is time-based. You’re billed on the actual hours the crew works, in 30-minute increments after the minimum charge. We break the numbers down up front, the hourly rate, the crew size and the travel time, before you book. Adult kids helping from out of town get the same breakdown, so the whole family knows how the bill works before the truck shows up.

From there, the bill is just hours. Three things move the hours more than anything else.

How much is coming

A family home in Fraser Heights or Panorama can hold 30 or 40 years of things. The more you sort, gift and donate before move day, the fewer hours we spend loading. Families who start sorting 3 weeks early cut real time off the move.

Access at both ends

Stairs, tight hallways, elevator waits and how close the truck can park all add minutes, and minutes add up. A booked elevator and a reserved loading area at the residence keep a crew of 2 or 3 moving instead of standing around.

Packing and rebuild time

Packing the kitchen, wrapping the china, taking the beds apart and rebuilding them at the new suite all run on the same clock. Do some of it yourself, or hand it all to the crew. Either way, you only pay for the hours we work.

Want fewer hours on the clock? Have boxes closed and labelled before we arrive, and pick a mid-month date if you can, month-end books up first. If you’d rather skip the boxes, our packing help in Surrey runs on the same time-based clock. If the new suite isn’t ready yet, we can hold everything in short-term storage between homes. Call (778) 242-2877 and we’ll walk you through the breakdown in about 10 minutes.

A recent senior move

Downsizing out of a Crescent Beach cottage

One of the harder senior moves near the water is a downsize out of the older detached homes in Crescent Beach and Ocean Park. These are original small cottages and older ranchers tucked among the hardwood trees, most of them detached, a lot of them with a slope down toward Semiahmoo Bay and a narrow treed lot. Different job entirely from a flat townhouse move.

Here is the part no other crew plans for. Crescent Beach has only two road crossings over the BNSF railway, the main one at Crescent Road and Beecher Street and the back one at McBride Avenue and Bayview Street. When a train comes through it can block both at once, and that can be ten minutes or it can stretch far longer. So we time the truck runs around it. We stage a full load, cross once, and take the Crescent Road corridor out to King George Boulevard rather than letting the crew sit idle at a lowered gate on your clock.

A downsize like this, an older two or three bedroom home going to a smaller suite, usually runs a 3 or 4 person crew. We sort what is coming, take the beds and dressers apart, wrap the china and the keepsakes, and rebuild at the new place. It is all billed on the actual hours worked, broken down up front, so the train and the stairs never turn into a surprise line on the bill.

Senior Moving FAQ

Questions we get about senior moving

Do you help seniors who are downsizing, not just moving?

Yes. Senior downsizing is a big part of what we do. We help you move from a larger home to a condo or residence, and we work at a pace that feels right for you.

Will you rush us on move day?

No. We never rush. We work at your speed, take breaks when you need them, and give stairs and fragile items the time they deserve.

Can you coordinate with a retirement residence?

Yes. We work with retirement homes across South Surrey and White Rock on move-in times, elevator bookings and loading areas, so the day stays calm and organized.

How much does a senior move cost?

Our pricing is time-based, so you’re billed on the actual hours worked. We break the costs down for you up front, so you know how it works before we begin.

Do you use your own movers or subcontractors?

We only use our own crews, no subcontractors. The same trained, friendly people handle your move from start to finish.

Can you help with stairs and heavy furniture?

Yes. Our crews are used to stairs, tight hallways and heavy pieces. We move carefully and take our time so everything and everyone stays safe.

Will you take care of sentimental items?

Always. Photos, keepsakes, china and other meaningful things get extra care. We wrap them well and handle them gently so they arrive safe.

Can you move us out of Crescent Beach or Ocean Park with the train crossings?

Yes, and we plan for them. Crescent Beach has only two road crossings over the BNSF railway, so a passing train can block both at once. We time the truck runs around it and stage full loads, so a lowered gate never leaves a crew standing around on your clock.

Our parent’s home is an older place on a treed slope. Can your crew handle that?

Yes. A lot of the detached homes in Ocean Park and Crescent Beach are older cottages and ranchers on narrow treed lots, some sloping toward the water. Our crews are used to steps, tight paths and awkward carries. We take the time it needs and move everything and everyone safely.
