Pool table moving in Surrey

Pool Table Movers Who Protect the Slate First

A pool table isn’t furniture. It’s a 700 to 1,000 lb machine built around slate, and slate that cracks is slate you throw away. That’s why moving one is its own trade, not something you tack onto a couch run. Local Movers Ltd has handled Surrey’s pool tables for over 6 years as part of the full service our Surrey movers run every day: rails off, slate out, every piece padded and carried on edge like glass.

We send our own crews. No subcontractors, no borrowed labour standing next to your slate. The same trained movers who carry our IKEA, Cozey and Samsung deliveries are the ones breaking your table down, bagging the hardware by section and mapping the rebuild before the first bolt turns.

We work across Surrey and the rest of the Lower Mainland, seven days a week. Pricing is time-based, billed on the actual hours worked and broken down up front before we book you in. Whether your table is headed down a floor, across town or into storage, the call starts the same way. Tell us the table, we’ll tell you the plan.

  • Slate carried on edge, never flexed

Billiard Table Moving, Teardown to Re-Level

Careful disassembly

Every billiard table moving job starts with a proper teardown. Pockets come off, rails unbolt, cloth lifts, slate comes out, legs come off the frame. Hardware goes into labelled bags, one per section, so the rebuild is exact. If the cloth is stapled we free it cleanly. If it’s glued, we show you before we touch it.

Slate handled like glass

Slate is the whole game. Each piece of a 3-piece set runs 150 to 250 lb and it snaps the moment it flexes, so it moves standing on edge, padded, strapped and carried by hands sized to the weight. In the truck it rides secured against the wall, never stacked flat under other freight.

Reassembly and re-level

At the new place we rebuild in reverse. Frame, legs, slate, then shims and a level across every seam before the cloth and rails go back on. We check the full playfield last, so the first rack rolls true. Plan on about an hour each side for a 3-piece slate table.

Time-based pricing

What pool table moving costs in Surrey

Everyone who calls pool table movers in Surrey opens with the same question. What’s this going to cost? Our answer never changes job to job. Pricing is time-based, billed on the actual hours the crew works. A minimum charge covers the truck and crew to your door, and after the minimum the clock runs in 30-minute increments. You don’t pay for a rounded-up hour nobody worked.

Before we book your move, you get the full breakdown. The hourly rate, the crew size, the travel, all in plain numbers before anyone touches a rail bolt. It’s the same breakdown we hand IKEA and Cozey on their deliveries, and it’s why our bill matches our estimate. Four things move the number on a table job.

Table size and slate

A 7 ft 3-piece table is the quickest table job we do. A 9 ft table with 1-inch slate takes more hands and more time on the stairs. Tell us the size and we set the crew before move day, not on your doorstep.

Stairs, elevators, turns

A garage-level room is a fast run. A basement staircase with a tight landing can add 30 to 60 minutes in each direction. In a tower, a booked and padded service elevator keeps the clock short.

The drive between rooms

Travel sits on the same clock, so a table crossing Fleetwood costs less than a table headed from Surrey to Vancouver. We map the route at quote time so there’s nothing vague in the number.

Access at both ends

Where the truck parks, how long the carry is, how tight the doorways run. The narrower the path, the more time the crew spends steering slate through it. Photos of both ends sharpen your quote.

That’s the whole pricing story. Actual hours, 30-minute increments after the minimum, the breakdown in your hands before we start. Call (778) 242-2877 with the table size, the number of stairs and where it’s headed. You’ll have an honest number in about 5 minutes.

Crew advice

10 pool table moving tips from our Surrey crew

Over 6 years of Surrey tables taught us where customers lose money and where slate gets hurt. Here are 10 things worth doing before the truck pulls up. Most of them take minutes and every one takes time off your bill.

1. Leave the teardown to us

Don’t unbolt the rails or try to lift the slate yourself. Slate snaps when it flexes, and cracked slate can’t be repaired, only replaced. The teardown is inside our hourly rate, so there’s nothing to save by doing it first.

2. Know your table before you call

Is it 7, 8 or 9 feet? One-piece slate or three? Check under the table or find the make and model. A 7 ft bar-style table and a 9 ft tournament table are different jobs with different crews.

3. Send 3 photos with your quote request

One of the table, one of the stairs or hallway it has to pass, one of where the truck parks. Those 3 photos let us size the crew right the first time instead of adjusting on your clock.

4. Measure the tightest point on the route

The narrowest doorway, the stair landing, the turn at the bottom. Two minutes with a tape measure now beats a slate piece stuck on a landing later, and it makes your estimate sharper.

5. Box the small stuff yourself

Balls, cues, rack, chalk, brush and the light above the table if it comes down easily. One labelled box you pack the night before means the crew only handles the table itself.

6. Pick the table’s exact spot before we arrive

You want about 5 feet of cue room on every side, so mark the spot and check the clearance first. A levelled table that has to shift a metre left gets levelled twice, on your hours.

7. Book the elevator if you’re in a tower

Ask your strata to lock off and pad the service elevator, and take the earliest window they offer. A reserved elevator is the single biggest time-saver on any condo table move.

8. Check the destination floor

A slate table puts 700 to 1,000 lb on a handful of legs, and it plays right only on a solid, level surface. If the new room’s floor slopes or bounces, tell us. More shimming means more time, and we’d rather plan it.

9. Decide on the cloth before move day

The move is the cheapest moment to deal with worn cloth, because the table is already apart. Look at yours this week. If it’s torn or bald in the lanes, sort out replacement plans before we book the rebuild.

10. Book mornings, 5 to 7 days out

Morning crews have slack in the day, so a rebuild that runs long still finishes without rushing the level. Weekends fill first in Surrey. Call about a week ahead and take the early slot.

Surrey rooms, Surrey tables

Where Surrey’s pool tables live

Most Surrey pool tables live a floor below the front door. The detached homes across Fleetwood, Guildford and Newton were built with the rec room downstairs, so nearly every table we touch has a staircase in its story. We carry slate down those stairs piece by piece, on edge, with floor protection on the steps and a spotter calling the turns.

The townhome side of the city plays differently. In Clayton Heights, tables usually sit in a garage-level flex room, so the carry is short but the doorways run tight and the turns come fast. That’s a route-planning job more than a lifting job, and it’s why we measure before we quote.

Then there are the towers around City Centre, where a table means a booked service elevator, padded walls and a strata window to hit. We’ve moved through enough Surrey buildings to plan for all three, and the plan is priced the same way every time. Actual hours, broken down before we start.

Pool Table Moving FAQ

Questions we get about pool table moving

Do you move pool tables in Surrey?

Yes. Pool table moving is one of our regular Surrey jobs. We take the table apart, move it, rebuild it and level it in the new room. One crew handles the whole thing, from teardown to the first rack.

How much does it cost to move a pool table in Surrey?

Pool table moves are billed on time, on the actual hours worked. We break the rate down for you up front, the hourly rate, the crew size and the travel, so you see how the price is built before we start. We never quote a flat rate.

Can you move a pool table in one piece?

Almost never, and you shouldn’t want us to. A slate table has to come apart, or the slate flexes and cracks, and cracked slate can’t be repaired. Small non-slate tables can sometimes travel whole if the path is wide enough. Tell us what you have and we’ll tell you which yours is.

Do you re-level the pool table after the move?

Yes. Levelling is part of the job, not an add-on. We shim and level the slate across every seam before the rails and pockets go back on, then check the full playfield before we call it done.

Can you move a pool table into or out of a basement?

Yes. Basement rec rooms are where most Surrey tables live. We carry the slate piece by piece, protect the stairs and floors, and put a spotter on every landing. Count your stairs when you call and we’ll size the crew to match.

Will my table’s cloth survive the move?

Usually, yes. Stapled cloth comes off and goes back on cleanly. If your cloth is worn or glued down, we show you what we see before we touch it, so replacing it is your call, never a surprise.

Do you use subcontractors for pool table moves?

No. Every table is handled by our own trained crew, the same people trusted by IKEA, Cozey and Samsung for their deliveries. You get movers who have taken a table apart before, not whoever was available that day.

How long does a pool table move take?

Plan on about an hour to take a 3-piece slate table apart and about an hour to rebuild and level it, plus the drive between homes. Stairs, tight doorways and elevator waits add time, which is why we ask about access when we quote.

Can you move my pool table from Surrey to another city?

Yes. We’re based in Surrey and work across the whole Lower Mainland, so a table headed to Langley, Burnaby or Vancouver is a normal day for us. Same crew, same time-based pricing, broken down up front.

Got a pool table to move in Surrey?

One crew for teardown, transport and a dead-level rebuild. Billed on actual time, no surprise fees.
