Short term storage in Surrey

Storage for the days your stuff has no address

Most storage problems are really date problems. Your sale completes on a Friday. Your new keys don’t come until the next Thursday. For those six days, everything you own needs a safe place to sit and a way to get there and back. That’s the whole job of short term storage in Surrey, and we’ve been doing it for over 6 years as part of our moving and storage service. Think of it as a move with a pause in the middle.

One crew handles the whole loop. Our own movers, never subcontractors, wrap and pad your furniture at pickup, load it on our trucks, and bring it back when you call. We’re one of the largest delivery partners for IKEA, Cozey and Samsung, so careful handling at volume isn’t a special occasion here. It’s a Tuesday.

Pricing stays simple too. The pickup and the redelivery are billed on time, the actual hours the crew works, broken down for you up front. The storage term gets quoted before we load a single box, matched to your dates. No self-storage locker, no renting a truck twice, no lifting the same sofa four times yourself.

  • Flexible terms matched to your dates

What short term storage covers

Four situations bring almost every temporary storage call we get in Surrey. If yours is on this list, we’ve done it hundreds of times. If it’s not, call anyway. The plan barely changes.

Possession date gaps

In BC, completion day and possession day are separate, and two linked contracts almost never land in the same week. When you have to be out before you can be in, we load on your last day, hold everything, and deliver on your first. Six days or six weeks, the plan is the same.

Renovation storage

New floors, a full repaint, a kitchen redo. The trades work faster and your furniture stays safer when the rooms are empty. We move it out, hold it wrapped for the length of the job, and bring it back room by room once the dust settles. No locker rental for a 3-week project.

Staging and pre-sale decluttering

Realtors ask sellers to pull half the furniture before listing photos. We take the extra pieces into storage while your home shows, then deliver them straight to the new address after the sale. One booking covers both trips, and your listing looks twice the size.

Between leases and delayed move-ins

A rental turnover, a new build that slipped a month, a job that starts before your unit does. We see it constantly in the towers around Surrey City Centre. Short term storage bridges the gap without a friend’s garage or a rushed sublet.

What short term storage costs in Surrey

Every storage call starts with the same question. What will this cost? Our answer has two parts, and both are simple. The moving legs, pickup and redelivery, are billed on time, on the actual hours the crew works, with a minimum charge that covers the truck and crew to your door. After the minimum, the clock runs in 30-minute increments. You never pay for a rounded-up hour nobody worked.

The storage side is quoted up front too, based on how much truck space your things take and how long we hold them. You have both numbers in hand before pickup day, the same plain breakdown we give IKEA and Cozey on their deliveries. Four things move your total more than anything else.

How much is going in

A 1-bedroom condo and a 4-bedroom house are different loads, different crews and different holds. A room-by-room list, even a rough one, makes your quote sharp instead of padded.

Access at both ends

A ground-floor townhouse loads faster than a 22nd-floor apartment with one shared elevator. Booking the service elevator and clearing parking for the truck keeps billed hours down.

Length of the hold

A one-week possession gap costs less to bridge than a 2-month renovation. Give us your real dates and we quote the exact term, then adjust it if the dates move. They usually do.

When you book

Month-end pickups and weekend redeliveries fill first, because that’s when possession dates cluster. Booking 1 to 2 weeks ahead gets you the morning slot and a fresher crew.

That’s the whole pricing story. Actual hours on the two moves, a clear quote on the hold, nothing hiding in fine print. Call (778) 242-2877 with your dates and a rough list of rooms, and you’ll have a real number on the same call.

Crew advice

10 short term storage tips from our Surrey crew

Over 6 years of holding Surrey homes between possession dates taught us what makes storage painless. Here are 10 things worth doing before the truck pulls up. Most of them take minutes and save you real money.

1. Pack a gap-week kit that stays with you

One or two clearly marked boxes: kettle, chargers, medications, a week of clothes, kids’ school stuff, basic tools. Whatever bridges the gap rides in your car, not on our truck. Digging a toothbrush out of storage is the call we hate making you pay for.

2. Label every box on two sides

Room plus a short content note, written on the side and the top. On redelivery day the crew reads the label and walks straight to the right room. Fewer questions for you, fewer billed minutes on the clock.

3. Nothing perishable, nothing that leaks

Food, plants, opened cleaning products, paint and propane stay out of storage. One leaked bottle of laundry soap can mark boxes three layers deep. Use up, give away or bin it before pickup day.

4. Defrost the fridge 24 hours ahead

A fridge that goes in damp comes out smelling like it sat in a pond. Unplug it the day before, drain the lines, towel it dry and wedge the doors open a crack. Same for the washer, tip it forward and drain the hoses.

5. Photograph your furniture before pickup

Two minutes with your phone gives you a dated record of condition on every big piece. We treat your things like our own, and good photos protect both sides if a question ever comes up weeks later.

6. Keep the irreplaceable stuff with you

Passports, jewelry, hard drives, the folder with the sale documents. Anything you’d panic about rides in your own car, not in any truck, ours included. That’s our standing advice on every move.

7. Book both dates the day your contract firms up

Month-end and weekends book out first because that’s where BC possession dates cluster. Locking pickup and redelivery early gets you morning slots at both ends, even if the second date is still a best guess.

8. Tell us the moment a date slips

Possession dates move all the time. One call and we stretch or shorten the hold and rebook your redelivery slot. Waiting until the day before is the only version of this that gets hard.

9. Let the crew wrap the soft stuff

Mattresses go in bags, sofas get blankets, and it happens at pickup as part of the hourly work. A bare mattress leaned in a storage unit for three weeks is how you buy a new mattress. Wrapped, it comes back the way it left.

10. Measure the new place before redelivery

If the sectional won’t make the new living room, decide before it rides back across Surrey. A quick floor plan with a tape measure means everything we deliver goes straight to its spot, once, on the clock you’re paying for.

Sold here, buying there

Temporary storage between two possession dates

Here’s the pattern we see most. In BC real estate, completion and possession are separate days, and when a family sells one home to buy another, the two contracts rarely land together. Your buyer gets keys before your seller hands over theirs. A house sells in Fleetwood, the townhouse purchase in Cloverdale completes the following week, and a family with a full home suddenly has nowhere to put it.

A typical gap week runs like this. We load the day before your buyer takes possession, everything wrapped, padded and listed onto our truck. Your things sit protected while you stay with family or in a short rental, living out of the gap-week boxes you kept back. The day your new keys arrive, the same company delivers and places every piece room by room. Nothing gets handled by a second outfit, and nothing sits in a mystery warehouse you found online at midnight.

The whole loop is one booking and one phone number. Two time-based moves broken down up front, a clear quote for the days in between, and nobody rents a U-Haul twice or bribes three friends with pizza. If your dates are already circling each other, call before month-end fills the calendar.

Short Term Storage FAQ

Questions we get about temporary storage

What counts as short term storage?

Anything from a few days to a few months. Most of our storage customers are bridging a possession gap, a renovation or a lease change. Tell us your dates and we quote the hold to match. Nobody pushes you into a long commitment.

How do pickup and redelivery work?

Our own crew wraps, pads and loads everything at your old place, on our trucks. When your new place is ready, you call and we deliver and place every piece where you want it. Both moves are billed on the actual hours worked, broken down up front.

How much does short term storage cost in Surrey?

Two parts. The pickup and the redelivery are time-based, billed on real hours with the rate broken down before you book. The storage term is quoted before pickup, based on how much space your things take and how long we hold them. You see both numbers before anything is loaded.

Do I have to commit to a set storage term?

No. Terms are flexible. We quote to your dates, and if a possession date slips, we adjust the hold and rebook the redelivery. Moves rarely land exactly to plan, and this service was built around that.

Will my furniture stay protected while it’s stored?

Yes. Everything is wrapped and padded at pickup and stays that way until it’s back in your home. Blankets on furniture, bags on mattresses, boxes stacked the way a trained crew stacks them.

Can you store my furniture during a renovation?

Yes, and it’s one of the most common reasons Surrey homeowners call. New floors and paint go faster with the rooms empty. We move the furniture out, hold it wrapped for the length of the job, and bring it back room by room when the work is done.

What shouldn’t go into storage?

Anything perishable and anything that can leak or ignite. Food, plants, opened cleaning products, paint and propane tanks stay out. Passports, jewelry and hard drives should ride with you, not in any truck, ours included.

What happens if my move-in date changes?

Call us as soon as you know. We adjust the storage term and rebook your redelivery slot. Possession dates slip all the time in BC, so a date change is a normal part of the job, not a problem.

Do you use subcontractors for storage moves?

No. Every pickup and every redelivery is handled by our own trained crew, the same people IKEA, Cozey and Samsung trust with their deliveries. The company that takes your things in is the company that brings them back.

Stuck between two dates in Surrey?

One call covers pickup, the hold and redelivery. Billed on actual time, broken down up front, no surprise fees.
